The Black Temple

The Black Temple

Tons of people find out about the White Temple and visit while they’re in Thailand. But most don’t know there’s also a Black Temple. Ban Daam Museum it’s also known as. Of course, nowhere near as many people visit. I mean, it’s really hard to live up to the White Temple. Look at it.

It’s a serious piece of work. (You may not know that it’s not even done yet. Check out a little info from Bored Panda with some super cool pics… [The White Temple](https://www.boredpanda.com/white-temple-thailand/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organic). And here you can find more info, how to get there, prices and history. [Getting to the White Temple](https://www.renown-travel.com/temples/wat-rong-khun.html))

It’s worth the few hours it takes to get out of Chiang Mai and into Chiang Rai even if you stay for just an hour like I did. No, really.

One of my favorite parts is walking into the entrance. On each side of the bridge there are hands trying to come up and grab you. They’re to portray how man is constantly trying to be pulled from his righteous path. So try and stay on your pious trek and go inside.

We’re talking about some pretty creepy stuff there.

Anyway, back to Black. The Black Temple has it’s own formidable appearance.

I liked the wicked feel of the place.

And so did this creature apparently. I felt like he was guarding his spot.

The buildings were certainly nothing like I’d ever seen. I’m not sure what type of person dreamt this place up. But I like their brain and the way they put things together.

And while there wasn’t a lot of decor at the White Temple, there certainly was here.

It was everywhere. And it was super fun exploring around trying to see it all. It was like snooping around in your Grandma’s attic. Only your Grandma is kind of a badass who traveled the world and brought all the cool stuff back.

There were some swatches of white hanging around. Some really fit in despite the color dissonance.

Look. Here’s Grandpa. He’s a good looking dude. And a badass himself.

I even saw a little live art going on.

All in all I say that the Black Temple is a place that a lot of people miss that is worth the trip. Especially if you’re going to visit the White Temple, it’s not too far away. If you have the time, drop in and give it a look. Twenty minutes or so by scooter isn’t too bad. Grandma will thank you.

If you’d like to get updates and some extra pics that just didn’t make the cut, throw me an email address. I don’t share.
